Much of Havana looks as it did in the late 1950’s. Standing on a street corner in Old Havana is like stepping into a time warp. The ubiquitous Yank Tanks, some of Detroit’s finest, from the decade of the fifties, ply the narrow streets of this architecturally beautiful and culturally rich city.

Those Fords, Chevies, Plymouths, Pontiacs, and yes, even the rare Studebaker continually lumber along the Malecon and through the barrios of this tropical city.

These American turned Cuban cars are kept running because of their owner’s repair skills and inventiveness.
